Jan Petzold

Jan Petzold is the co-coordinator of the network with a background in integrative  geography. Jan works as co-principal investigator and coordinator of the junior research group  TRANSCEND (Transformation Decisions for the Adaptation and Sustainability of Cities in the  Face of Environmental and Socio-economic Change). He contributes mainly to the realms of re structure and re-think through his research on social vulnerability, local knowledge, and social  capital in climate change adaptation. Jan has empirical research experience in islands and  coastal areas in Germany, the United Kingdom, The Bahamas, Madagascar, India and  Indonesia. Moreover, he gained valuable experiences linked to the science-policy interface  through his work as a Science Officer for the Working Group II of the IPCC.
