Lena Rölfer
Lena Rölfer is a social-ecological systems researcher with a background in the sustainability sciences. Lena’s work mainly contributes to the realms of re-structure and re-think in coastal systems. She has applied the leverage points perspective in a case study in South Africa, where she mapped and assessed the performance of coastal governance processes contributing to enhancing climate resilience. She has also applied the leverage points perspective in a case study in Spain with regard to sustainability transformations in complex governance systems of semi-arid regions. In her role at AWI, Lena is now working on generating actionable knowledge at the science-society-interface to better predict marine biological hazards and to prevent their socio-economic impacts.
